What a week!

This week has been mental busy, Tuesday Rock n Roll Bride did a blog post about a recent Love your dress shoot (click here). Then on Wednesday the lovely Alexis at OMG IM GETTING MARRIED wrote a lovely piece about me, my wedding photography and Art direction at WEDDING, I was so flattered(click here)

Yesterday the amazing girls at Rock my Wedding published their interview with me, with a great EXCLUSIVE offer from me too. (click here)

To top it all off... I then made the top 100 WEDDING tweeters (which is AMAZING) and a complete surprise to say the least!

Next week I hope I can top all of that again. Thank you to all the amazing wedding bloggers talking about me

Props for weddings and engagement shoots

On engagement shoots, and sometimes at weddings, it can be good to add props. Things that help frame the picture or tell a story. Decorations from your actual wedding can easily be used on the day.

Or they could be used at the engagement shoot before, this stunning wicker and bead heart makes the perfect picnic shoot prop.

Sweets, make great wedding favours as well as good props.

Bunting is very popular... I have a few different varieties!

If you have a special themed style engagement shoot, bespoke props make the shots. Emma and Rays cinema popcorn was great (they got engaged in a cinema and they're having a film themed wedding!)

I can never resist a vintage camera! (or taking photos over guest shoulders into their camera or turning round and capture guests taking shots)

I had parasols at my wedding and they are my favourite photos of me and my sisters so now I take them with me to shoots!

Flowergirls love the parasols!

Wedding umbrellas can be necessary, as they were at Sherna & Andrew's wedding but make for great shots

Ellie & Mark brought their gorgeous dog, Rupert along to their engagement photographs. Umbrellas were needed, but no other props are required!

Ellie and Mark preview

Last weekend I was out shooting Saturday and Sunday, then back to WEDDING magazine's head office on Monday for another busy week. Sadly it means my free time (evenings) is being devoted to editing rather than blogging.

Saturday's wedding will appear on the blog soon, in the meantime I couldn't resist adding this picture showing just how much Ellie and Mark are in love. They are a truly lovely couple and I hope they are having a wonderful honeymoon as I type!

For all the guests at their wedding a LARGE selection of their photographs are now online (if you go to my website www.modernphotographic.co.uk and select the client download gallery). The cards on the table indicated their username and password however if you've lost it drop me and email and I will give you the details julia@modernphotographic.co.uk

Enjoy!

Cheeky...

This cute little pageboy, was nephew to the groom and decided the wedding car was his perfect hideout! He didn't care much for formal line ups either... so he played in the garden with a smile on his face and I caught him just as he was.

Lucy & Lee in Sutton Park

This weekend I headed to Birmingham to do two engagement shoots. Ian was at V festival, doing one on one backstage & interview photographs with the band, so I was shooting solo. The first one was with Lee and Lucy...

We all went for a recce at their gorgeous local church, round the corner from Lee's parents, then onto their lovely venue, before heading to Sutton Park for these shots...

Ellie, Mark and Rupert

We met up with Ellie and Mark this weekend, ahead of their wedding a few weeks time. Ellie and I spent a lovely Sunday morning checking out the stunning Harte and Garter before meeting back with Mark and Rupert (their gorgeous Cocker Spaniel).
It was too good an opportunity to miss, so we all took a walk around Windsor Park with our cameras...

With a dog as cute as Rupert, no props are needed!

Rebekah and Kevin

A couple of weeks ago, I shot Rebekah and Kevin's pituresque wedding. I originally met Rebekah three years ago, when she was bridesmaid for another couple I worked with, Jo and Pete. So it was a real honour to be asked to come back and shoot her wedding.

The beautiful ceremony was held at Rayners Lane Baptist church, which was filled with lots of songs and an amazing atmsphere. Then we all headed off to Stanmore Golf club, which as any keen golfer will know is a great backdrop for a picturesque traditional wedding

Here are a few of shots from the day... (including a very cute flowergirl, who was the perfect model all morning!)
